Dr. Georgina Falú, PhD

Dr. Georgina Falú, PhD, is a Black and Puerto Rican scholar, educator, entrepreneur, historian, activist and empowerer dedicated to serving women, children, families and communities that need it most. 

Dr. Falú completed a Doctorate in Higher Education Finance and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University, received a diploma from the Harvard Graduate School of Business, a Master’s in Business Administration degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico. 

Dr. Falú holds 35 years of purpose-driven teaching and executive experience at universities in Puerto Rico and the continental United States. Among her many distinctions, Dr. Falú was the fi rst female Dean of the Management School at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, the first female Vice President of Administration for the Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University and Dean of Academic Support Programs at Touro College. Dr. Falú’s proudest and most resounding accomplishment is selling her home in Puerto Rico and investing all assets in the Falú Foundation, including the creation of a landmark Universal Business and Media School in the heart of El Barrio—Silicon Barrio—which promotes economic development through technology to serve disadvantaged Latino and African American students.

Today, Dr. Falú remains the founder and President of the Falú Foundation, which continues to empower and enrich the lives of low income women, children and families through a spectrum of purposeful programs, including: information technology education, job creation, pre-kindergarten and afterschool programs and heritage and cultural research, publications and dissemination.

Dr. Falú is an Adjunct Professor at City College of New York (CCNY) in the Black Studies Department, where she continues to be a leader in the movement for the Afro-Latinos to gain consciousness and learn about their African heritage and history. She created the AFROLAA (Afro-Latinos of the Americas) Project to mobilize Spanish speaking Afro-descendents in communities throughout South-Central America and Caribbean, so that they may learn about their African heritage and history. Additionally, Dr. Falú plays a crucial role in the World African Diaspora Union, serving as an executive member and ambassador for the solidarity of Africans worldwide. 

As a leading Pan African advocate, she has travelled all over the world—including to Brazil, Columbia, Mexico and Africa—promoting the union and empowerment of African people.
